J(caps)aved Afridi, owner of Pakistan Super League franchise Peshawar Zalmi, has expressed interest in buying renowned English club Chelsea.

Roman Abramovich, owner of the well-known English football club Chelsea, has reportedly offered his team for sale due to mounting pressure on him as the Russian owner of the Premier League franchise following Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.

The Spanish sports website and the Khaleej Times reported that Javed Afridi, owner of Peshawar Zalmai, was interested in buying a football team for which he had recently visited the UK.

According to the report, Javed Afridi's team met with a sports and legal agency in the UK on Wednesday afternoon and a group of investors interested in buying the well-known club.

The team has won five Premier League titles, five FA Cups and two Champions League titles since Roman Abramovich bought Chelsea in 2003.

According to the French news agency AFP, Abramovich is reportedly planning to sell Chelsea FC to Russian President Vladimir Putin, fearing sanctions from the British government over his personal and business ties.
