Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai has condemned Israel's atrocities against the Palestinians and called world leaders to take immediate action.

In a tweet on the social networking site Twitter, Malala Yousafzai shared a UNICEF report on the injuries and arrests of Palestinian children in Israeli attacks.

Malala Yousafzai said violence in Jerusalem, especially against children, was intolerable. She said in his tweet that the long-running conflict has taken the lives of many children and their future.

Malala Yousafzai demanded in her tweet that world leaders should take immediate action, adding that peace is not possible if children and citizens are insecure.

Tensions have been running high in Jerusalem and the Occupied West Bank for the past few days during the holy month of Ramadan, with clashes at night in the Sheikh Jarrah area of East Jerusalem.

Israeli police and Palestinian health workers said at least 205 Palestinians and 17 Israeli police officers were injured in a May 7 nighttime clash in East Jerusalem.

The next day, Israeli forces tortured hundreds of Palestinians who had gathered near the Al-Aqsa Mosque for special services in Jerusalem for the second night in a row, injuring 80 people, including a minor and a one-year-old child. 14 people were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Later, on May 9, hundreds of Palestinians were injured as a result of another violent operation by Israeli forces near the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.

Hamas fired dozens of rockets into Israel, including a barrage, which turned off airstrikes sirens far from Jerusalem after 300 Palestinians were injured in an Israeli airstrike on Al-Aqsa Mosque.

This was followed by the Israeli bombardment of Khan Yunis, Al-Bureij Camp, and Al-Zaitoun.

The Palestinian Health Department said nine children were killed and 106 were injured in Israeli airstrikes, most of them relatives.

The Israeli military says it has targeted Hamas in eight locations in response to rocket fire from Gaza.

The violence in Jerusalem since Friday (May 7th) is the worst since 2017, with long-running efforts by Jewish settlers to evict several Palestinian families from the Sheikh Jarrah area in East Jerusalem added to tensions.

An appeal by Palestinians in the case was due to be heard on Monday but was postponed by the Justice Ministry due to tensions.
