IPL 2021: 9-month old Shimav Mavi, when Chris Gayle made his debut, made a record with the first ball out

Universe boss Chris Gayle Golden Duck proved to be a flop with the bat against Kolkata Knight Riders on Monday (26 April) in the 21st match of the 14th season of the IPL at the Narendra Modi Stadium. 22-year-old young fast bowler Shivam Mavi got Gayle caught by wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik off his first ball.

This is the second time in the history of IPL when Gayle has been dismissed on the first ball of his innings. Earlier in the year 2017, Umesh Yadav did this feat.

Gayle was part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore team at the time and was dismissed for the first ball by Umesh, playing for KKR. It was the 100th match of Gayle's IPL career.

Explain that when Chris Gayle made his international debut, Mavi was just 9 months old.

Apart from Gayle, no other Punjab player could do anything special. Batting first after losing the toss, Punjab Kings scored 137 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the prescribed 20 overs. Mayank Agarwal scored 21 and Chris Jordan scored 30 runs.

Kolkata's famous Krishna took three and Pat Cummins and Sunil Narine two each, while Shivam Mavi and Varun Chakraborty took one wicket each.
